Look closely at the phalaenopsis spike after the flowers have fallen off. You can find the 'nodes' or 'joints' where the flowers are usually attached. Secondary flower spikes could originate from any of these nodes. If you see any such spikes you could cut about 1 inch above it and leave it for re-blooming.
If you do not see any secondary spikes then you could cut 1 inch above the 3rd 'node' from below.
Most importantly supply with good light. This will reduce the 'rest perod' and reblooming commences soon. With strong sunlight the old spike could produce branches or a new spike will appear above the latest leaves. |
